Relaxing in an All-Inclusive Hotel on Mauritius. A clear blue sea with a white beach to relax. Or to make use of one of the many sport facilities of the hotel. While the children will have a great time in the Kids’ Club or in one of the swimming pools. That sounds like paradise, right? Below is an interview with a family that has been there.
Who are you?
My name is Ellie and I came from England, West Midsland I travelled with my went husband and 2 year old Son to Calodyne in North Mauritius. It was our first visit to Mauritius, we stayed for a week. We have an Instagram account to record our travel @watsontraveljournal .
Hotel Zilwa Attitude
We stayed at a 4 star Hotel Zilwa Attitude . It’s an all-inclusive hotel with several great swimming pools. The kids club was amazing and had a real boat on land, which the children could play in. It was a 100% child friendly place, and the staff were amazing with our 2-year-old. We can’t recommend this hotel enough!
Facilities in Hotel Zilwa Attitude
The buffet food was the best we’ve had in on all-inclusive holiday. There was also an authentic ice cream bike for pudding, which all the kids loved. Without prompt they arranged a birthday cake for my husband’s birthday, which was a lovely touch. The beaches and sea views are the best I’ve ever seen and were truly breathtaking. The staff were so friendly, my son loved being served at the bar a red lemonade, that’s a mix of sprite and grenadine. The Kids club is like no other, with a boat they also did a pirate treasure hunt for children. They took them on a boat to a small island offshore, great for older kids. But our son was a little young. The spa facilities were lovely, and my massage was the best and reasonably priced. And lastly the crabs at the beach early evening kept my son entertained.
Points of interest to visit in Mauritius
We were only there for 1 week and had done so much in Dubai. We just came to relax and we mainly used Mauritius to recharge our batteries. And just explored the complimentary excursions. Which the hotel offered.
There is a private island just off the coast, from the hotel where we were staying. The sea was shallow most of the way, so we actually walked across pulling our son in a rubber ring. We had a BBQ on the island and explored the wildlife. On the way back we took the complimentary boat, back to the hotel. We also went on a glass bottom boat trip to explore the marine life. The boot trip took us out to the coral and our 2-year-old loved it. And even better it was again complimentary.
Why Mauritius?
We wanted somewhere special to visit as we were celebrating my husband’s 30th Birthday. And we also wanted to go somewhere easy to connect from Dubai. We found Mauritius very reasonably priced.
I booked independently I’m an ITA, so we booked the accommodation and flight ourselves. Before we book a holiday, we prepare ourselves by reading blogs about the destination.
Do not miss this during your holiday in Mauritius
Exploring the marine life! But there are lots of other great activities to do around the hotel, such as snorkeling, stand up paddle boarding, yoga, beach volleybal, kayaking and lots more activities.
The flight to Mauritius
We first stayed in Dubai for a week on the way. The flight from Dubai to Mauritius is 6hr 30mins. On the way home to England the journey was around 16 hours in total, with a 2-hour connection in Dubai. We flew with the Emiratis. The flight with our kid was fine. We always take lots of activities with us, such as kinetic sand, play doh, aqua draw, colouring and sticker books. We also used a plane pal, which I would highly recommend. This pillow blows up between the seats on the floor and is well to create a bed. But always recheck, because not all airlines allow these plane pal.
Age of the children
Depending on the hotel I think you can take children from any age. Our hotel was super child friendly and perfect for our 2-year-old.
Best memory of the journey
Our best memory of the journey was waking up to the beautiful sea view every morning was amazing. We have travelled to lots of beautiful places, including the Maldives, but the view in Mauritius topped them all!
